Brussels Muzieque hosts concert by world-renowned Jerusalem Quartet on 17 May

Jerusalem Quartet in Brussels on 17 May
13:26 06/05/2024

The internationally-reputed Jerusalem Quartet perform a remarkable concert of melodic masterpieces, including an enchanting Octet by Mendelssohn, at the Cercle Gaulois in Brussels on 17 May.

Organised by classical music collaborative Brussels Muzieque, the upcoming performance is a flagship concert for the platform with its rollcall of globally-acclaimed artists.

Currently on a European tour, including performances at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the quartet will join Brussels musicians to share the stage at the 350-seat Caryathide Hall at the prestigious venue in Brussels’ royal park.

Audiences are in for a treat with the musical programme. A profound interpretation of Paul Ben-Haim's String Quartet No. 1 op. 21 beautifully merges Middle Eastern and Western musical traditions before the grand finale with Mendelssohn's innovative Octet op. 20.

For this latter work by the German Romantic composer, the Jerusalem Quartet performs alongside Brussels Muzieque artists Sylvia Huang, Nadja Nevolovitsch, Monika Mlynarczyk, and Eduardo Tonietto.

Founded in the 1990s, the quartet boasts a wide repertoire. Its 1st violin performs on a Stradivarius violin, its cellist on an Amati cello.

Tickets for the exceptional concert are priced at €50.
